Basabe’s invoice and the same Senate proposal (SB 716) by fellow Miami-Dade County Republican Ana Maria Rodriguez name for the creation of a 10-seat choice committee to decide on which girls to honor.

Members would come with three Governor’s appointees, a Florida Commission on the Status of Women member, a consultant from the Division of Historical Resources, one member of the State Historical Marker Council, two members of most people, and one appointee every by the Senate President, Home Speaker and Secretary of State.

To qualify for a marker, a lady should have been born in, resided in or labored in Florida and made a big contribution to the state, her county or neighborhood 30 or extra years in the past.

Not less than one girl from every of Florida’s 67 counties should be acknowledged.

The primary 10 markers should be positioned by Dec. 31, 2025. The ultimate one should be positioned no later than Dec. 31, 2025.
