The Northwest Territories coroner’s workplace says six individuals have died in a aircraft crash close to the city of Fort Smith, on the boundary with Alberta.
The workplace says 4 passengers and two crew members from Northwestern Air Lease had been killed, whereas a lone survivor was taken to hospital and later airlifted to Yellowknife.
The aircraft took off Tuesday from the airport in Fort Smith, then crashed close to the banks of the Slave River.
Mining firm Rio Tinto says various its employees had been on the aircraft, which was headed to its Diavik Diamond Mine, about 300 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife.
The city council says in a press release that those that died are treasured members of the neighborhood and their loss touches everybody.
The city says persons are welcome to go to the neighborhood recreation centre immediately for snacks, drinks and pleasant faces.
