For Mike Mannino, the second time’s the allure. 

After working unsuccessfully 4 years in the past, Mannino has received election to the Clearwater Metropolis Council in Seat 3. He’ll change Kathleen Beckman, who didn’t search re-election to as an alternative run for Mayor. 

With 90% of precincts reporting and almost 63% of the vote, Mannino will simply defeat two challengers.

Mannino’s victory comes after he significantly led his opponents in fundraising, with more than $46,000 introduced in as of mid-March.

Javante Scott, town’s neighborhoods coordinator, completed in second with 24% of the vote. Scott was additionally second in fundraising, with just over $14,000.

Jared Leone, a contract journalist who for years lined Clearwater Metropolis Corridor, got here in third with 13% of the vote. He raised less than $6,000.

Additional aiding Mannino this cycle, he had powerful backing from native political leaders. He introduced in contributions from interim Clearwater Mayor Brian Aungst Sr., Pinellas County Commissioners Chris Latvala and Brian Scott, Sen. Nick DiCeglie, and The Florida Management Committee, a committee chaired by former Sen. Jack Latvala. His donor listing made clear that Mannino is the selection of native Republicans.

Aungst, Chris Latvala, Scott and DiCeglie all formally endorsed Mannino, together with Sen. Ed Hooper, Rep. Kim Berfield, Pinellas County Commissioner Dave Eggers, former Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard, Clearwater Metropolis Council member David Allbritton and Dunedin Mayor Julie Ward-Bujalski, the one Democrat of the bunch.

Scott, in the meantime, had backing from the Florida Democratic Social gathering by way of its Take Again Native program.
