She was the one Ron DeSantis supporter in Florida’s congressional delegation.

U.S. Rep. Laurel Lee was the one member of Florida’s congressional delegation to endorse Ron DeSantis for President. Now she’s following his lead and backing former President Donald Trump.

“Our nation wants a conservative chief within the White Home,” stated Lee, a Thonotosassa Republican.

“Whereas I used to be proud to help my former boss, Ron DeSantis, throughout his marketing campaign, I’ve nice religion within the management and confirmed monitor report of President Trump. Lee introduced her help a day after DeSantis suspended his presidential marketing campaign. She notably served as DeSantis’ Secretary of State over most of his first time period as Governor. She left the place in 2022 to run for Congress and received in a brand new district created by a brand new congressional map the Governor’s employees crafted.

Final April, she grew to become the first — and finally, solely — member of Florida’s congressional delegation to again DeSantis’ run for President.

On the time, Trump was making a transparent play to shore up help from U.S. Representatives in his and DeSantis’ dwelling state of Florida. No members of Florida’s congressional delegation have endorsed Haley. At this level, 18 of 20 Republican U.S. Representatives from the state have endorsed Trump. Solely U.S. Reps. Mario Díaz-Balart and María Elvira Salazar, each Miami-Dade Republicans, stay silent on the GOP nomination.
